When I have a kitchen, I will also make these, and then make ice-cream sandwiches with them. And famous internet people will come to my house to eat them and hang out.

Jason Cherniak is not a Facebook spammer →
Discussion of the facebook “social worm” that recently made it to the Harvard network. My roommate’s account recently barfed up some of this spam. This is interesting because she has very few third-party apps installed. She only has “What I’m Listening To” and “iLike”. Which makes me wonder if this might not be a more serious facebook vulnerability.
i’m Initiative donates $1.3M in its first year →
Last summer, I had a great chat with one of the PMs on this about how they got the go-ahead to do this. Personally, I’m always skeptical of stuff like this (product(red), for instance), but still, 1.3M is a great start. I’m glad to see Microsoft sticking with the project and looking to expand it into other markets - especially because some of them can’t wait to get involved.
Altruism
What if we got outside ourselves and there really was an outside out there, not just our insides turned inside out? What if there really were a you beyond me, not just the waves off my own fire, like those waves off the backyard grill you can see the next yard through, though not well—just enough to know that off to the right belongs to someone else, not you. What if, when we said...

Me: I want to be able to see due dates in the kinsey interface.
Jesse from Hiveminder: I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "kinsey" interface.
Me: OMG, hilarious(ly awkward). So, I was typing this from my iPhone (on the normal interface) and I must have mistyped "mobile" in such a way that was autocorrected to "kinsey." (What??? I know. Thanks, Apple.) Sorry!
Jesse from Hiveminder: It's not often that one's mobile device can take the blame for a freudian slip, but having used an iphone, I can totally believe it ;) I'll see what I can do.
Shadow Unit →
“If you’re not reading Shadow Unit, you totally should be. It’s crime drama (I don’t even *like* this genre) with an edge of something scifi or supernatural, scary and suspenseful and funny and thoughtful all by turns, a group project of a bunch of pro sff writers. They’ve conceived of it as fan fiction for a TV show that doesn’t exist, which is all sorts of...

Post-spam and too many blogish things
No one’s following me on tumblr, because I haven’t told anyone I have a tumblog. This is liberating! To those who might choose to follow me: I will be totally unapologetic for the post-spam. This is how it’s gonna be. One thing I am concerned about is how this will fit in with the rest of my online-content-creation life. I’ve got an LJ and a legitimate blog as well, and...

Clinton on Obama's Speech: I Haven't Heard It →
But despite the speech’s high profile and intense media coverage of it, Mrs. Clinton said at a news conference she had not heard it yet or read the text. Many reporters muttered in disbelief during and after her remarks, surprised that a candidate as diligent as Mrs. Clinton -– who always talked about being well-prepared and doing her homework -– would not have read the speech yet. (via...
